Chowing Down in Hickman County
I was honored to be asked to help promote my hometown restaurants, hole-in-the-walls, and tucked away eateries for a special project for the Hickman County Chamber of Commerce to help promote our small community and provide visual resources for each location. It has turned into such a fun way to connect with my community and meet some amazing people and chow down on some amazing food along the way.
So far, the list of restaurants includes Papa Kay Joes BBQ, Mason Jar Cafe, Fish Camp, Linita’s Deli, Pinewood Store & Kitchen, Duck River Store, Coble Store & Diner, Muddy Duck Cafe, Snappy’s Pizza, Mi Cocina, Rubee’s Diner, and the Beacon Light Tea Room.
The central theme to any food blog worth its salt is the photography, and I have spent the last 15 years working on honing my craft. Originally, I started as a portrait and fine arts photographer in college and then found my love of food after my marriage in 2006.
I love working in natural light and creating colorful and interesting compositions. I don’t like to put tons of props and gizmos in my shots in order to keep things simple and make sure the focus is on the food.
