I started this blog a million years ago and when I did, our family was in such a different place in life. We were broke, unemployed and in the middle of a recession in the hardest hit state in the entire country. I began this blog as a way to give myself a creative outlet as I stayed at home with our very small twins. It was a way to stay in touch with family, to share pictures of my kids, to write from my isolated little corner of the world. That was 2008 and our life was so very different.
We have gone through many changes in the last 9 years and most have been for the better. We are very lucky to now live in my hometown, close to our family, to (mostly) have our finances under control, to be able to raise our children in the simple, country lifestyle that we always wanted for our brood. We raise chickens, we garden, we help run our family winery. Life is so different! We are different. And it stands to reason that this blog is different too.
So, with that in mind, Blaine and I are rebranding this little ol’ blog. It’s become something that is very important to the future of this blog and we feel we need a name, a “brand”, that better represents us and our life. Our recipes are still going to be fresh, from scratch, family meals but we no longer want to give anyone the impression that these are exclusively “budget meals”. While we still strive to live and cook within our means, our passion for cooking sometimes takes us towards something a little more indulgent and we want to be able to share that with you too.
So, over the next several days Eatin’ on the Cheap will be replaced by Two Lucky Spoons and our journey through the blog world will continue. We hope that you will continue to journey with us and maybe bring a few friends along. too.
Love to all of y’all,
Jodie & Blaine
