Giveaway #2 Winner, Some Exciting News and Giveaway #3

Have I mentioned how awesome you guys are? You guys are so incredibly awesome. And you guys certainly have a love of kitchen tools, just like me!

Before I get to the winner and the third and final giveaway, I want to share some exciting news. I have new weekly food column in my local paper! It’s called the Hickman County Times and, if they had an online paper I would give you the link, but they don’t. Writing for a newspaper presents it’s own set of new challenges. Where here on the blog I can write on and on forever, I only have 400 words in the paper and that includes the recipe. Not that I typically write more than 400 words, but lets just say I haven’t used the “word count” function in Word since high school. And back then I never had to take out sentences.

So this week was the first week that it has run, starting with Pumpkin Pancakes. Next week will be a Squash Galette that I did a couple years ago. After that I am either going to do a post about cooking a whole turkey or a turkey roulade. I’ll probably go roulade. What do you think?

This is for a beautiful cookbook! Desserts from the Famous Loveless Cafe is full of mouthwatering Southern style desserts and some beautiful photos of many of the dishes. Loveless Cafe has been around for years and it really is a Nashville landmark. Famous for biscuits and pies this cute little restaurant has been serving up great food since 1951 and it’s only about an hour from my house. How lucky am I?

  2. One of my favorite southern recipes is Chicken and Dumplings. It’s an inexpensive comfort food that is so simple to prepare. My family loves it served with green peas and a slice of bread (to soak up the yummy, thick broth).

Biscuits and gravy, doesn’t matter if is red eye gravy or cream gravy, just throw those biscuits together gently, make up some gravy with whatever is handy in our kitchen, and yummmeee for the tummy’s!     Read your column in The Hickman County Times…great article and I’m gonna try the Pumpkin Pancakes.

    One of my favorite Southern Holiday recipes is….RUM CAKE…my daughter Olivia will be making it for a desert contest this weekend. It’s delicious and beautiful. I’ll take a pic. and let you know how it goes..maybe there will be a slice left I can share with you.
